This week, we sit down with the March Slam winner Candace Crawford and find out what got her writing and performing Slam Poetry.
What's your story Candace?
I think I'm in Volume II of the story of Candace - Part I: Adulthood...or nah?
My mom thinks I'm going to write a memoir one day so really I should start to piece it together. The Cliffnotes version:
YOUWONTHESLAM!!!!! How does it feel?
shockedhappywonderfulmotivated. I didn't expect to win; there were seriously amazing poets in the slam! I feel overjoyed at finding a like minded community of people in Singapore.

My mom thinks I'm going to write a memoir one day so really I should start to piece it together. The Cliffnotes version:
- I'm one of 4 kids (3 brothers)
- My uni (class of '13) just won the NCAA National Championship and I'm riding that high right now (go Tarheels!)
- I moved to Singapore in August to teach at an international school. English, of course :)
- Reading really is my favorite hobby; writing is a close second (my introverted heart's dream)
